Alzheimer's Society supporters raise funds by decorating their house in Christmas lights

Read the brilliant story of our how some of our wonderful supporters are choosing to fundraise for Alzheimer's Society this Christmas.

We are delighted that Preston based Kathryn Rice and Alan Partridge have decorated their house in Christmas lights to raise vital funds for people affected by Dementia

Kathryn said,

'Times are extremely hard for everyone at the moment so we understand, especially at this time of year, but we are grateful for any pennies you can spare. We all know someone who has their lives affected by some form of dementia, there won't be many of us that has not experienced the feeling of loss on many levels.

I personally lost the lovely lady that was my Mum (missed every day x) And Alan's Dad is being cared for at home by his sister, suffering the destroying effects that dementia brings. So please dig deep, we may be the ones needing help and support.

Thank you for taking the time to read this little tale, and take a few moments to visit our JustGiving page, and if we can help spare one more family from the distress, we can feel proud!'

Simon Spencer; the York based Community Fundraising Support Officer for the North said,

'We're delighted that Kathryn and Alan have chosen such a unique and innovative way to raise funds for Alzheimer's Society. It's always inspiring to find out the wonderful ways our supporters choose to make a difference for people affected by dementia. One in three people over 65 will develop dementia. It is a devastating condition and can affect anyone.

As a charity, we rely on the generosity of supporters like Kathryn and Alan to help us continue our vital work and lead the fight against dementia. Helping make the UK a better place for people affected by dementia through our services, research and campaigning.'
