We are delighted with the work of Assisting You who visit every week to engage my mother who is suffering from short term memory loss. Prior to their visits Mum was forgetting to eat and drink and get up out of bed and became very ill - it took a lot of work to turn this around. Social services advised that Mum probably needed to be engaged. I work full-time and was wondering how to keep her from slipping back once I went back to work. This is where Assisting You stepped in. After a meeting with their Manager Lauren to discuss our requirements and an introduction to Ed who would visit Mum for an hour each week we felt that this would give Mum some quality time playing games, chatting or going through old photo- and would give us a little break. Mum looks forward to her visit and her and Ed are usually heard laughing! Ed also stepped in to walk the dog and make sure Mum was fed when my husband and I wanted to go to an important event. I am not sure who enjoyed themselves the most. The support of Assisting You has taken away a lot of stress. Their visits give quality time and we love the personal touch of knowing exactly who is coming to the house. The whole family is in a happier space as they have helped us keep Mum healthier for longer and this means we can enjoy her and continue to care for her at home.
