About this provider

Mackadown Day Centre is a unique service which operates in the Birmingham area and which specialises in working with adults with complex care learning disabilities. Whether the people we work with have profound multiple disabilities or are on the autistic spectrum or whether they require augmented communication or sensory integration, the focus is on providing care that is tailored to individual needs and involves them within the wider community. We facilitate this by means of a wide range of activities both at our specially equipped centre and within the wider community. The Government’s ‘Valuing People’ White Paper aimed to prevent those with learning disabilities being marginalised or excluded; since its publication much work has been carried out by local authority and private sector providers to modernise day services for people living with learning disabilities. Mackadown Day Centre is proud to be at the forefront of these pioneering developments. Our philosophy is centred first on the person, not their disability, and we tailor a programme of social, psychological and physical development.
