Stanleys Training Project

About this provider

Stanley's training project was set up 2 years ago to work with people who have a learning disability, but we work with anyone who finds it hard to access education, training or employment. The aim was to set up a catering and retail workshop that does a number of things:

1.Supports people to gain skills in their chosen area. This will help them develop the skills needed to gain employment.
2.As we will trade with the public and within the community, we aim to break down barriers that may exist and promote inclusion.
3.We aim to support people into employment.
4.We aim to support other organisations, creating links and establishing a firm basis to build upon.
As time progressed we decided to work with a range of people with disabilities, but with a focus on people with learning disabilities. We support people into paid or voluntary employment by giving them the skills and confidence to work independently.

We work from the Options Centre on George Street in Dewsbury. We open our cafe on a Wednesday.

From January 2014 we will be working from The Church of Nazarene in Dewsbury. Our Dementia cafe opens at the end of January on Thursdays with activity cafe on Fridays.

We also offer training to people working in the care sector so that we can pass on our skills and knowledge to people working in the care sector. We work with nurses, carers and support workers.
