Day services for people with a learning disability
About Us
The service is operated by Barnsley Council and offers opportunities for personal, social, educational and occupational skills, and development for adults with a learning disability.
The Day Opportunities service consists of six units (including one specialist resource unit for people with profound learning disabilities) based throughout the Barnsley area, and aims to meet the needs of service users whilst accessing public facilities within their own locality/community.

General information
The Day Opportunities Service, has sixunits across Barnsley each giving the chance for Service Users to experience and enjoy many different opportunities both within the locality unit buildings and throughout their local community. Fully supported by an experienced staff Team, Service Users can enjoy getting involved in activities that include Sports, Social and Leisure. Education, or work type activities, and community involvement.
All activities are open to all service users, and based around an individuals likes, wants and needs. You, the service user, can chose which activities you want to be involved in, and we will support you to enjoy them and develop your abilities and skills.
All service users are encouraged and supported to develop their own personal programme throughout the week. Where possible activities take place within the community, joining local community groups and using local community facilities. Staff support service users to get to and from activities and to join in, enjoy and learn from all the activities they chose. Service Users can attend for , full week, or on individual days / sessions just for activities they want to go to.
