The Social Engineering Shed is for those who are interested in completing and restoring engineering projects and/or gardening based projects.

Our starter project is the complete restoration of a 1980 snow mobile, this twin tracked 640 cc two stroke power house had a very real and interesting past. It was once the property of Sir Ranulph Fiennes, (known as the greatest ever living explorer) who took the machine through the north and south poles, an adventure which was recorded photographically and through numerous published books, such as (The Transglobe Expedition, 1979-1982, led by Ranulph Fiennes. This was the first expedition to circumnavigate the earth via both poles.)

The Social Engineering Shed is based in Maltby Rotherham, within a walled industrial estate with main gate entrance. The workshop is designed to accommodate a six person team, the team will devise a plan of how best to restore this equipment, the stages of repair, sourcing of parts, and multi tasking of job experiences. Along the journey the team will learn and share new skills in welding, mechanics’, fettling, fitting and the manufacture of parts, alongside research and ordering skill, time management and becoming a reliable team activist.

Absolutely no experience is necessary, just a heartfelt passion for all things motorised in this project. The SKI DOO will on completion be exhibited at various shows, which the team will have organised and planned the logistics for.

If this is not your thing at the moment, then all the above applies to our new for 2018, grounds maintenance project and or the Maltby plant rescue and grow project.
BR>We are offering the opportunity to learn new skills for fun or work, in growing your own, saving unwanted plant species and learning the skills to use powered garden maintenance equipment in a safe controlled environment. The team dynamics are the same, small six person teams, learning the skills to work and possibly teach each other, by passing on your skills and knowledge. The pace of learning is up to you and will be discussed on referral.

The Social Engineering Shed – staffed by level 5 qualified social care staff, with 20+ years work experience in care, alongside work experience in garden maintenance, engineering, and employment training and coordination into work. This is a real opportunity to gain confidence, meet new people and get out of unwanted routine, team work and individual achievement and learning, work experience and job identification, or just for the hell of it!
